7 sustainable stores to discover: start eco-friendly shopping today!

Cherisa started with modelling 9 years ago, at the age of 19. Signing with different agencies worldwide. In October 2022 She became a freelance green model. She only works with brands who take the environment, animals and people serious. Besides modeling she has a blog about self love, lessons learned and a sustainable lifestyle. Besides modeling, writing is a big passion of her. And… her first book is on the way!

7 sustainable stores to discover: start eco-friendly shopping today!

In 2021 I completely stopped buying fast fashion after seeing the documentairy ‘The true cost’. It really touched my soul to see the bad impact the clothing industry has on the environment, people and animals. It also became really clear to me that I needed to take action, to keep our beautiful planet the way it is. I can’t change the world entirely, but I can use my voice and make different decisions to make (small) impact and inspire others.

For me conscious buying started with stopping to buy online. Why? I used to buy a lot of clothes during online sales, mostly the same pieces in different sizes. It almost always ended in sending everything back. Because the fit wasn’t as expected or the sizes weren’t good after all. Recognizable? I think we almost all do or did this at one point right… But did you also know the following:

In some cases the returned items get burned, instead of resold. Ridiculous right! It’s bad for the environment and such a waste of resources used for the clothing. So I wanted to do this this differently and share my hows and wheres with you!

I started to look around for stores that sell sustainable brands and I make a game out of going to different cities by train and to find sustainable stores wherever I go. I often combine this with a nice walk around the city and stop at a (vegan) lunchspot where you can enjoy a –as I call it- fair lunch with seasonal and local ingredients. It’s definitely one of my favorite things to do! Interested in some of these spots? Let me know and I might share my top 5 in a next blog… 😉

Back to the sustainable (fashion/lifestyle) stores I was talking about. Underneath are some of my favorite stores in The Netherlands. You can stop by, ask your questions about the many different products, get to know new brands and of course try out some pieces. I also highly recommend to feel the fabric. A lot of sustainable brands use non plastic and organic materials which are sooo soft, I love it!! And of course you can already these brands out on social media to see what they have in store for you.
